ABOUT
GLOW
2018
New Zealand, we have a problem.
We are living in an epidemic of depression. One in four New Zealanders are affected by depression. That statistic is based on people who have come forward about it. Is this only the tip of the iceberg? How many others struggle in silence? How many watch loved one’s struggle and don’t know how to help? These are the questions that drive our mission to create an interactive installation around depression.
Our project goal is to de-stigmatize and reduce the discrimination around depression. We want to encourage others to get closer to each other, to stop, to talk, to listen.
We understand that the scale of this goal is large and that achieving it will not be an easy feat but we believe that this exhibit is a stepping stone to a brighter future, a future where no matter how dark a situation, we will always GLOW

Team
Katherine
Winitana
Artistic Director
Katherine grew up in Flaxmere, an area which has struggled with issues around poverty, crime and a high rate of teen suicide. Seeing so many people her age lose their battle with depression to suicide was the inspiration for this exhibit.
